• Flowing Rock vs. Thirtsy Squirtle

    The Inspiration

    Flowing Rock

This is the Apple background, “Flowing Rock.”

    The Response

    Flowing Rock

Squirtle walks alone through the rolling sandy desert. Thirsty, he thinks only of water.

    Relaxation in Duluth

    By Panda | June 24, 2008

    The Inspiration

    Sunset in Duluth

The sunset was absolutely beautiful in Duluth three days after our graduation from Carleton College. Spending three days at Patrick’s cabin was the best way to pass the time. Total relaxation.

    The Response

    Flying Kosednar

    Chris and Emily Jumping Again

    Me Doing a Hand Stand

With the falling sunset, we couldn’t help but capture these silhouettes. Trust me, it was as fun as it looks. We took multiplephotos of each other hand standing, jumping and soaring in its gaze.

    Lyman Lakes and Goodhue

I took these photos of the Lyman Lakes at Carleton College and figured I should definitely draw attention to them, cause they are definitely some of the coolest photos I have ever taken!

    Disconnected Debut

    By Panda | May 20, 2008

    The Inspiration

Dubut of Disconnected at Carleton College

A group of Carleton students released their documentary, “Disconnected,” to the public last Wednesday in Olin Hall at Carleton College. It was freaking awesome. Check out the Disconnected Websiteto see the trailer and get background information on the project.

    The Response

I sat in the stands patiently eating the little pieces of candy handed out to each Carleton Student viewer and waiting for the documentary, Disconnected, to begin. It finally did, and I began filming…

    Abercrombie

    By Panda | May 9, 2008

    The Inspiration

Abercrombie’s commercials are persuasive. Totally hot bods on the screen, unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I don’t think anything could dissuade me from buying something from this well presented clothing line.

    The Response

If creepy music and a reference to my favorite movie from childhood - ET - isn’t enough to get your minds off of hot bods and abercrombie clothes, then abercrombie will forever reign.

    Jane and Me (Kind of)

    By Panda | April 17, 2008

    The Inspiration

We forget to take photos when we are out doing stuff, so it seems we’ve resorted to jotting memories down on crappy computer crayon drawings. Jane drew the following photo of us walking down the street after getting Indian food, just two blocks away from Carleton at Chapatis.

    The Response

Here is my copy of the gesture - reminding us of the time we ran down the beach together, hand-in-hand, laughing and laughing and laughing, in hot tropical weather, sea breeze hitting jane in the face, far away from the wet, slowly coming Spring here in Minnesota.

    Old Panda NOT popular website??

    By Panda | April 15, 2008

    The Inspiration

According to Alexa, my wonderful blog, the space at least seven people DAILY visit to peruse, is not yet a large website and will not become a “popular” website anytime soon. I can cope with the evidence clearly ranking my website as less popular than the 100,000 other most popular websites on the internet(Figure 1). But to suggest my site has NO traffic is absolutely cruel and false (Figure 2).

    Figure 1:

    traffic history oldpanda.jpg

    Figure 2:

    no traffic?.jpg

    The Response

Old Panda is definitely kicking butt in rank in some fields - no doubt. Check out the field of Peter Karian; if one searches for Peter Karian on google they will find Old Panda ranking 2 places ABOVE CUT’s (Carleton College Ultimate Team) website and ranked only ONE place below facebook. This means Old Panda is SECOND best to Facebook, the 6th most popular website on the internet, and TWICE as popular as CUT - not too shabby!

While here I would like to talk about the popularity of Old Panda (placing above Chris Kosednar’s well-known Force Flickblog and below only a Twitter message made from Dan Mammel to MY OWN twitter account), I would rather draw your attention to the inquiry posed below “Tim’s Gallery” link. It appears Tim knows every Mammel and is skeptical that you, Dan Mammel, are indeed a true Mammel. What have you…liar?

Friends do Kimya Dawson’s Tire Swing

    By Panda | April 7, 2008

    The Inspiration

Kimya Dawson, Chris and Dan at Arch.jpg

    The Response

Combine the song Tire Swing by Kimya Dawson (who covered the majority of the Juno Soundtrack) with seven random photos spontaneously taken at the St. Louis Arch and the following is what you could get. This “not meant to be artsy creation” is what I got when I messed around with it for about 20 minutes this morning before watching Mark Wahlberg kick total ass as Bob Lee Swagger in the movie Shooter.
